Army School of Physical Training

History

1. Physical Training School was raised at Ambala and shifted same year to Chaklala.

2. Relocated to Toba Camp in 1948.

3. Shifted to present location with the name of Army School of Mountain Warfare and Physical Training.

4. In 1988, Snow Warfare Course was assign to Army High Altitude School, Mountain and Liaison Officer remained with Army School Mountain Warfare and Physical Training.

5. In 2000, Mountain and Liaison Officer Courses also shifted to Army High Altitude School and School was renamed as Army School of Physical Training.

6. Adventure and Unarmed Combat & Bayonet Fighting Courses were introduced in 2001.

Location

The Army School of Physical Training is located at Kakul about 9 kms away from Abbottabad (Pakistan). The nearest Railway Station is Havelian, which is 24 kms from the School. There is a regular Taxi service from Havelian to Abbottabad to Upper Kakul. Troop Bus for the Army personnel is also available on this route for all trains.

Being a Hill Station, Abbottabad is very cold in winter and sometimes the minimum temperature drops to zero. Snowfall is a common feature from December to February. During summer it rains heavily and the temperature seldom rises above 30° C. Abbottabad enjoys a very healthy climate throughout the year.

Educational Philosophy

Major effort goes in to train officers and men in Basic and Advance Physical Training. We produce instructors for the units and training institutions of the Pakistan Army. The best facilities of the country are available for Physical Training. We run adventure sports oriented courses i.e. Hang Gliding, Para Gliding, Water Sports (Water Skiing, Wind Surfing), Fencing and Archery for volunteer officers and men of the Armed Forces. We are the flag bearer of the above adventure sports.

The Faculty

During the courses run in the school, Officers/ Junior Commissioned Officers and Non Commissioned Officers undergo training evaluation process; best out of them selected, depending on their performance, are recommended as instructors in school.

          • Duration – 6 Weeks
          • Intake Strength – 85 x Non Commission Officer / Soldiers

        • Para Gliding Course (PGC)
          • Duration – 2 Weeks

            • For Army Para Gliding Course – 40 x Officers, Junior Commission Officers and Soldiers

        • Intake Strength – 30 x Officers / Junior Commission Officer / Soldiers
        • Courses – 2 x Courses for Students ex Advance Unarmed Combat & Bayonet Fighting Course and 1 x Army Water Sports course per year
        • Facilities Available – Water skiing, Knee Boarding, Wind Surfing, Para Sailing, Jet Ski, Speed Boat, Banana Boat

Selection Criteria

    • Master Fitness Instructor Course (MFIC)
      • Age below 30 years for Non Commission Officers and 26 years for Soldiers
      • 3.2 Kilo Meter in 14 Minutes
      • 40 Push Ups in 2 Minutes
      • 45 Sit Ups in 2 Minutes
      • 8 Chin Ups
      • Medical Fit and Category A

 

    • Unarmed Combat & Bayonet Fighting Course (UCBC)
      • Maximum age 30 Years
      • Preferably Physical Training Course qualified
      • Volunteer

 

    • Advance Unarmed Combat & Bayonet Fighting Course (Adv UCBC)
      • Students are selected on their performance in Basic Unarmed Combat & Bayonet Fighting Course
  • Sports Coaching Courses
    • Must have represented Division team in the Zonal Championship
    • Ex Army / National / International players be preferred

Extra-Curricular Activities

Recreational facilities of indoor and outdoor games like, squash, gymnastics, weight training, badminton, tennis, football, hockey, handball, basketball, volleyball and hiking are available next to the living accommodation of officers and men.

Parent-Teacher Meeting

Dear Parents,

We cordially invite you to attend the Parent Teacher Meeting on Saturday, 02 June 2018 to be held at the Pasban Forces Academy. This is an opportunity for you to learn about the academic, behavioral, and social well-being of your child and to clarify any related questions or concerns about his grades.

The Parent Teacher meeting will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

parents can go directly to the faculty rooms to meet with our teachers. Individual consultation time with teachers starts at 9:00 AM. Consultation time per subject teacher is limited to ten (10) minutes.

Please sign on the attendance sheets upon your arrival. CLASSES for all students will remain on this day.
